        Blondela, Lieutenant (d.1788); French. Medium: pen and ink and wash on paper. Date: 1786. Lituya Bay, a fjord on the coast of the South East part of Alaska, was named as 'Port of the French' by the French naval officer and explorer, Jean-Francois Gallup de la Perouse (1741-88); two ships are visible, 'La Boussole' and 'L'Astrolabe'; Gaspard Duche de Vancy was the official artist for the expedition but Lieutenant Blondela was a talented artist also; Provenance: Service Historique de la Marine, Vincennes, France.
