        Masson, Benoit or Massou (1627-84); French. Medium: gilded lead. Date: 17th Century. Escutcheon with interlaced initials of the king and queen is supported by cherubs carrying quivers filled with the arrows of Cupid; surmounted by two doves and torches symbolising the flames of love; Louis XIV (1643-1715) married the Infanta Maria Teresa of Spain in 1660; Queen's Staircase; Provenance: Ch�teau de Versailles, France / Giraudon.
