        The Popish Damnable Plot Against Our Religion and Liberties, 1680

Broadside giving an account of the Popish Plot in cartoon form; the allegations of Roman Catholic plotting made in 1678 by Titus Oates included responsibility for the Great Fire of London in 1666; William Howard (1612-80), Viscount Stafford, was falsely accused and condemned to death by execution in theTower of London in 1680; in total 35 innocent people executed; Provenance: British Museum, London, UK.
