Treatise on government written by King James VI of Scotland for his eldest son, Prince Henry; 'Royal Gift' was printed in Edinburgh in 1599 and in London, after the union of Scotland and England, in 1603; educational treatise and instruction with guidelines for efficient and good monarchs; after the death of Prince Henry in 1612, James gave the book to his second son, Prince Charles (1600-49); Provenance: Private Collection.
