        Old Tom Parr, 1635

        English School, (17th century). Medium: engraving. Date: 1635. Inscription reads: 'The old, old, very old man or Thomas Parr, the son of John Parr of Winnington in the Parish of Alberbury in the county of Shropshire who was born in 1483 in the reign of King Edward the 4th and is now living in The Strand, being aged 152 years and odd months 1635'; the oldest man in the world; Provenance: Private Collection.
