        Napoleon and Coignet

        Myrbach-Rheinfeld, Felicien baron de (b.1853) (after). Medium: typogravure. Date: 19th Century. Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) with Jean-Roch Coignet (1776-1865); Capitaine Coignet was a long serving soldier in Napoleon's campaigns since 1800, serving at Austerlitz, the Russian Campaign, Iena, Leipzig and Waterloo; after the exile of Napoleon, Coignet retired to Auxerre, where he had a tobacco shop and wrote his memoirs 'Aux Vieux de la Ville', published 1851-53; Provenance: Private Collection.
