        Dramatis Personae for Samson, an Oratorio by Handel, published in 1759

        English School, (18th century). Medium: printed paper. Date: 1759. George Frederick Handel (1685-1759), German composer, musician and conductor; Samson premiered on February 18th 1743 at the Theatre Royal Covent Garden; Handel had written it in 1741; sometimes performed as an opera; handwritten note on this page records that John Randall (1717-99), composer and Professor of Music at Cambridge University conducted performances in 1761 and 1765 at the Senate House in Cambridge; Provenance: Private Collection.
