        A gallows ticket to view the hanging of Jonathan Wild on the 24th May 1725

        English School, (18th century). Medium: engraving. Date: 1725. Jonathan Wild (1683-1725) notorious English criminal; he set himself up as the 'Thief Taker General of Great Britain and Ireland', supposedly policing London streets, whilst his gang perpetrated many of the crimes 'solved' by Wild; Provenance: Private Collection.
