        The Reverend Dr. Shaw Preaching at St. Paul's Cross, London, 1483

        English School, (19th century). Medium: engraving. Date: 19th Century. Reverend Dr. Shaw (dates unknown) was the brother of Edmund Shaw, the Lord Mayor of London, he mounted the pulpit to preach a sermon alleging that King Edward IV's marriage to Elizabeth Woodville was illegitimate and therefore his son's were bastards; he was expressing his support for Richard, Duke of Gloucester, who would later become Richard III; Provenance: Private Collection.
