Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington (1769-1852) is shown offering a gift to Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn (1850-1942) the third son of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom (1819-1901) and Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1819-61); the 1st of May is the birthday of both the Duke and Prince Arthur, as well as the opening day of the Great Exhibition; Provenance: Private Collection.
