        English School, (17th century). Medium: woodcut. Date: 17th Century. The play 'The Lamentable and True Tragedie of M. Arden of Feversham in Kent' was published in 1592 and tells the true story of Thomas Arden of Faversham who was murdered by his wife Alice and her lover Mosby; image shows the moment when the ex-soldiers Black Will and Loosebag (called Shakebag in the play), who have been hired by Alice to carry out the murder, finally catch up with him; Provenance: Private Collection.
