        Spencer House, 1800

        English School, (19th century). Medium: etching. Date: 1800. The house was commissioned by John, 1st Earl Spencer (1734-83) in 1756; the facade was designed by John Vardy (1718-65) with the rest of the building being designed by James 'Athenian' Stuart (1713-88); one of the first neoclassical buildings in London; Provenance: Private Collection.
