        Duerer, Albrecht (1471-1528). Medium: woodcut. Date: 1498. St. John the Evangelist was said to have indured the persecutions, including being cast into a a cauldron of boiling oil at the Latin Gate in Rome, but he emerged unharmed; the Roman Emperor Domitian (51-96) looks on; Provenance: Private Collection.
