        English School, (17th century). Medium: engraving. Date: 17th Century. Veri Effigies Hugh Peters aged 57; Hugh Peters (1598-1660) was an English priest and Parliamentarian; In 1650 he was made chaplain to the Protector's Pricy Council and later gave the sermon at Oliver Cromwell's funeral; At the Restoration he denied complicity in the death of Charles I, although he had certainly expressed support for the trial and sentence in his sermons; He was executed for high treason at Charing Cross on the 16th October 1660; Provenance: Private Collection.
