The Statue at Mr. Wyatt's Foundry, published in 'The Illustrated London News', 3rd October 1846

Landells, Ebenezer (1808-60); British. Medium: engraving. Date: 1846. Matthew Cotes Wyatt (1777-1862) was a Victorian sculptor; This print shows the departure from Wyatt's studio of the monumental bronze of The Duke of Wellington (1769-1852) that Wyatt sculpted in 1846; The bronze used for the sculpture was mainly derived from French cannon captured at the Battle of Waterloo; The statue was moved with great ceremony from Wyatt's Foundry at Dudley Grove House, Harrow Road, London, to it's original site atop the Wellington Arch at Hyde Park Corner; Provenance: Private Collection. Photographic Rights The Bridgeman Art Library.
