        Raising the Wellington Statue, published in 'The Illustrated London News', 3rd October 1846

        Landells, Ebenezer (1808-60); British. Medium: engraving. Date: 1846. The installation of the Wellington Monument, 29th September 1846; A monumental bronze statue of The Duke of Wellington (1769-1852) that originally stood upon the Wellington Arch at Hyde Park Corner, but has since been moved to Aldershot; The statue was sculpted by Matthew Cotes Wyatt (1777-1862); Here the statue is being hoisted into postition, having been brought from Wyatt's studio atop a carriage pulled by 29 horses; Provenance: Private Collection.
