        The Viscountess Wear'em, c.1880-1900

English School, (19th century). Medium: lithograph. Date: 19th Century. This cartoon is most probably of Florence Wallace Pomeroy, Viscountess Harberton (1843-1911), founder of the Western Rational Dress Society; Lady Harberton was a promoter of the 'divided skirt' or trousers worn beneath a shorter dress and particularly critical of the corset and any other item that impedes movement and prohibits healthy exercise; Provenance: Private Collection.
