The Cape of Good Hope, drawn in Paris on l'Ile de la Cite, under royal warrant of Louis XIV (1643-1715); Three views show an illustration of a view of the cape from Table Bay, a plan of Table Bay itself and a plan of the Castle of Good Hope; The view from Table Bay particularly notes Table and Lion's Head mountains, as well as Devil's peak and the Governor's residence in the fort, the houses of the Hottentots (or native Khoikhoi people), the slave's lodging and the Dutch East Indian Company's garden; The plan of Table Bay also include both Robbin and Penguin Islands; The plan of the Dutch Fort, or Castle of Good Hope, shows its star shaped construction, built by the Dutch between 1666-1679; Provenance: Private Collection.
