Edmund Burke (1729-97) was an Irish statesman, author and orator; In 1791 Edmund Burke along with fellow MPs William Wilberforce (1759-1833) and Charles James Fox (1749-1806) addressed Parliament in favour of measures to abolish the slave trade; The vote went against them by a majority of 75; Provenance: Private Collection.
