        English School, (19th century). Medium: printed paper. Date: 1839. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in question were The Prince Adolphus, 1st Duke of Cambridge (1774-1850) and his wife Princess Augusta of Hesse-Cassel, Duchess of Cambridge (1797-1889); The Theatre Royal on Drury Lane still exists in the Covent Garden, in the West End of London; The programme announced for Monday June 24th 1839, the last night of the season, is headed by 'Love Spell', an opera by the Italian composer Gaetano Donizetti (1797-1848); Also billed are a farce called 'Mayor of Garrett' and a ballet entitled 'Daughter of Danube'; Provenance: Private Collection.
