        English School, (19th century). Medium: printed paper. Date: 19th Century. Described as "A New and Improved Form of Magic Lantern," the sciopticon is an early form of image projector; It was patented by Walter B. Woodbury (1834-1885) who was an English photographer and inventor who took out more than 30 patents in Britain for his inventions of photographic processes and optical lanterns; Provenance: Private Collection.
