        Robinson Crusoe's Island, engraved by Clark and Pine, 1719

        English School, (19th century). Medium: engraving. Date: 1719. This pictorial map upon which the fictional Robinson Crusoe lived for fifteen years was originally published in the little known third part of Daniel Defoe's (c.1659-1731) Robinson Crusoe book series, entitled 'Serious Reflections of Robinson Crusoe'; The map illustrates various incidents from the book around the island; Provenance: Private Collection.
