'Renouvele de Lafontaine'; satirical cartoon using the fable of La Fontaine to make sarcastic reference to Prussia's aggressive territorial policy and the annexation of Hanover and Hesse-Kassel after the Austro-Prussian War of 1866; Baden, although not yet formally annexed, became an ally of Prussia and was to play a prominent part in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870; Provenance: Private Collection.
