John Skelton (1460-1529) was an English poet, sometimes known as Shelton; Skelton frequently signed himself "poet laureate" but is never recorded as having received any emoluments for such a role; This publication was a collection of Skelton's poems including 'Speake Parot', a thinly veiled satirical attack on Cardinal Wolseley, 'A treatyse of the Scottes' and 'Ware the hawke'; Provenance: Private Collection.
