James Hervey (1714-1758) was an English divine; He was a member of the Holy Club, although never became a Methodist; Hervey was a great influence on the artist William Blake (1757-1827) who painted 'Epitome of James Hervey's Meditations amongst the Tombs' between 1820-25; John Dixon (1740-1811); Provenance: Private Collection.
