Smith, Worthington G. (1835-1917). English. Medium: engraving. Date: 1875. After the Great Fire of London in 1666 the architect Sir Christopher Wren (1632-1723) proposed an innovatory plan to rebuild London that incorporated utility, vision and sacred geometry; The plan was never realised, partly because householders and shop keepers began rebuilding their premises as they had been previous to the fire before Wren's proposal could be implemented; Provenance: Private Collection.
