        English School, (19th century). Medium: printed paper. Date: 1851. 'Soyer's Symposium', also known as 'Soyer's Universal Symposium of All Nations' was the brainchild of French chef and culinary reformer Alexis Soyer (1810-1858) who ran this giant thematic food park in Gore House, Kensington, alongside the Great Exhibition of 1851 in which specially prepared meals for all corners of the world were served to five thousand guests on a daily basis; Provenance: Private Collection.
