        The Rosse Telescope, 1845

        English School, (19th century). Medium: lithograph. Date: 1845. Popularly known as the Leviathan of Parsonstown, the Rosse Telescope was the largest telescope in the world after it was built in 1845 by William Parsons, 3rd Earl of Rosse (1800-67) on his estate, Birr Castle. Provenance: Private Collection.
