        The Triumph of Poverty, drawn by Jan de Bisschop, c.1650

        Holbein the Younger, Hans (1497/8-1543) (after). Medium: pen, ink and wash on paper. The original painting on which this is based was commissioned by the Merchants of the Hanseatic League for their Great Hall in Steelyard, Blackfriars, London. It is one of a pair with 'The Triumph of Riches' (see 472270), both paintings were destroyed by fire in 1752. Drawn by Jan de Bisschop (1628 - 1671) Dutch painter and printmaker.
