English School, (18th century) (after). Medium: engraving. Date: 1784. A satire of Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire (1757-1806) as she was canvassing for Charles James Fox (1749-1806) in the Westminster Election of 1784. It was widely reported in the press that the Duchess had given a butcher (seen here dancing beside Her Grace) a kiss in exchange for a vote for Fox. Provenance: Private Collection.
