        Carlisle Bridge and Sackville Street, Dublin

        English School, (19th century) (after). Medium: engraving. Now renamed O'Connell Bridge, Carlisle Bridge was built between 1791-4 and was named after the then Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Frederick Howard, 5th Earl of Carlisle. The bridge, and Sackville Street, were renamed after Daniel O'Connell, campaigner for Catholic emancipation, c.1882. From a print published by Messrs. Stark Brothers. Provenance: Private Collection.
