        French School, (14th century) (after); French. Medium: woodcut. The Venetian traveler Marco Polo (c.1254-1324) came upon these oracular trees while travelling in India. Alexander the Great is also said to have had the same experience. the 'Livre de Merveilles du Monde' or 'Travels of Marco Polo' was first published in Old French c.1300.
