Donowell, John (fl.1753-86). English. Medium: engraving. Date: 1753. Cliveden House, Buckinghamshire. The picture shows the original house, designed by William Winde (c. 1645-1722) and built in 1666, which was burned down in 1795. Frederick, Prince of Wales (1707-51) leased the house from 1737-51. Full inscription reads: 'The Garden Front of Cliefden House in the County of Bucks, lately a Palace of His Royal Highness, Frederick, late Prince of Wales'. Provenance: Private Collection.
