        Yarrell, William (1784-1856). English. Medium: woodcut. Date: 1843. Ray's Wagtail is more recently known as the Yellow Wagtail (Ray is thought to be a reference to John Ray (1627-1705) the 17th century naturalist). This bird (latin: Motacilla flava) is a small passerine in the wagtail family Motacillidae. Provenance: Private Collection.
