Sarah Martin (1791-1843) was a British philanthropist who devoted much of her time amongst criminals in the Tollhouse Gaol in Great Yarmouth. "Sarah Martin would sit in their midst, now directing their work, and now beguiling them with a story from a book." Provenance: Private Collection.
