James Francis Edward Stuart, Prince of Wales, also known as the Chevalier de St George or "The Old Pretender" or "The Old Chevalier"; (1688?1766) was the son of the deposed James II of England (James VII of Scotland). As such, he claimed the English, Scottish and Irish thrones from the death of his father in 1701. Provenance: Private Collection.
