        Inside of Bowyer's Tower, 1830

        English School, (19th century). Medium: engraving. Date: 1830. The Bowyer's Tower, part of the Tower of London, is where George Plantagenet, 1st Duke of Clarence (1449-78) is supposed to have drowned in a but of Malmsey wine. He was certainly imprisoned and executed in the tower for plotting treason against his brother Edward IV. Provenance: Private Collection.
