        Thomas Nashe From a very scarce Pamphlet entitled 'The Trimming of Thomas Nashe Gentleman', published c.1819

        English School, (16th century) (after). Medium: woodcut. A re-print of the 1597 pamphlet by barber surgeon Richard Lichfield (d.1630) in which he satirises the playwright Thomas Nashe (1567-c.1601) who was arrested and jailed after the first performance in July/August 1597 of his slanderous play 'Isle of Dogs'. Provenance: Private Collection.
