English School, (18th century). Medium: engraving. Date: 1792. London Wall was the original fortification built by the Romans around the town Londinium. It was maintained until the late 18th century and defined the boundary of the City of London. Cripplegate was a gate in London Wall and the medieval Church of St Giles-without-Cripplegate still stands today within the Barbican complex. Provenance: Private Collection.
