        James Hall, Footman to James Penny of Clements Inn Esq. whom he murdered June ye 17th 1741, 1741

        English School, (18th century). Medium: engraving. Date: 1741. The tale of James Hall who murdered his master, James Penny, and was subsequently hanged for doing so. Several vignettes show Hall slitting his master's throat and catching the blood in a basin, carrying the body to the place of disposal, imprisoned for his crime, being transported through the streets of London on a sled to his place of execution and finally hanging from a gallows in Katharine Street.
