        Turpin stops Tom King, the Highway

        English School, (19th century). Medium: engraving. Tom King (d.1737), known as the 'gentleman highwayman' was most famous for his association with the famous Dick Turpin (1705-39) whom he first encountered when Turpin tried to rob the smartly dressed King. Provenance: Private Collection.
