        Cruikshank, George (1792-1878). English. Medium: engraving. Date: 1839. Jack Sheppard (1702-24) was a notorious thief who repeatedly escaped from prison. William Harrison Ainsworth's (1805?82) novel 'Jack Sheppard' was based on his life. The images show, from top, 'Lower leads' and 'The highest leads and the leads of the Turner's house'.
