        Ostrich-feather fan from the Tomb of Tutankhamun

        Egyptian 18th Dynasty (c.1567-1320 BC). Medium: wood covered with sheet gold. Date: 14th Century BC. Length of the handle, 95cm; stumps of feathers may still be seen in the holes on the outer edge of the palm; discovered in 1922 in the Valley of the Kings by Howard Carter; Provenance: Egyptian National Museum, Cairo, Egypt.
