Abby: A puppet is a character. Almost anything can become a puppet with a little personality, like a sock, or a paper bag, or even an egg carton. Puppets aren't just operated by your hands. They can also be operated by your whole body. How does a puppet get its personality? Well, most puppets don't want you to know this, but a person, called a puppeteer, has to give the puppet their personality. The puppeteer has to build the puppet, talk for the puppet --

We're going to make it in a funny voice.

Abby: And make the puppet move.

(music)

Abby: And because kids have far more creative imaginations than grownups, kids like you make the best puppeteers. Your puppet can be anybody, say anything and do whatever you want it to do. Who will your puppet be? Your long lost friend who lives in a castle and sprinkles magical dust all over everywhere just to cover the Earth in flowers? Or a buddy who is too shy to talk, but he smiles whenever you read to him? What about a famous chef? Or a frog? Or a dragon? Or even a robot?
