Jake Brozowski: With in the world of teachers and principals, the idea of one test at the end of the year has it's pro and it's cons.
One of the problems is attendance according to Walt Sanders Federal Programs Director for Ohio County schools.
Sanders: The Federal Government mandates that we do standardized testing. How much time we spend on them is up to us. The things allot of people don't know is that if you don't have 90 percent of your students take the test your school gets an automatic F.
Jake: An F! That rule goes for all schools even private schools according to Liz Hofreuter-Landini head of Wheeling country day school.
Liz Hofreuter-Landini: As an independent school we receive no money from the state of the federal government, Thus the word independent yet we are required by the state to do the same thing. I have to have my students take a test in order to have my doors open in the state of West Virginia.
Jake: Of course money is a problem Wheeling Middle School Principal Rich McCardle explains schools even rely on testing as a means to getting money. When Mcardle was asked.
Isabelle Bringman: Do you think students are restricted from a full high quality education due to lack of creativity because teacher have to teach to the test?
Rich McCardle: I'm going to give you a straight up answer, Yes.
Jake: Even Principles of state schools don't ever see their students take a standardized test. Again they have no choice in the matter. Just like young adults can get addicted to their phones which can lead to a lack of creativity. I worry that the standardized test has become the smart phone of education. Many schools across the country
are protesting this form of assessment. It seems that people that need to listen, don't. The struggle continues.
