Abby: What has no color, no smell, and no taste, but we can't live without?

It's water.

We have to have water every single day so our bodies can be healthy and strong. We also use water for cleaning like when we wash our hands or our things around the house, and of course, water can be a lot of fun.

Swimming, anyone?

People in Iowa are so lucky because we're surrounded by two rivers.

On the east side, we have the Mississippi... And on the west side, we have the Missouri River.

Rivers, ponds, streams, and lakes are all made of water, and provide the perfect habitat or home for some pretty amazing creatures.

This is also where the water in our homes comes from. Don't worry.

First it goes to a fancy facility where the water is cleaned and prepped so it's safe to drink and use in our homes.

All the water we have in the whole world is the same water we've always had, and the only water we ever will have. No more. No less. We can't make water, and we can't get rid of it.

Even when it dries or evaporates, it doesn't go away. It just changes into a gas and goes up into the clouds. Then, when the weather is just right, the clouds let the water come back down to Earth in the form of raindrops. Or if it's cold enough, snowflakes. When it warms up, it evaporates again... and then it rains again... and then it evaporates again... and well, you get the idea.

It's called the water cycle.
