Abby: Money is what we use to pay for something. What can you get with money? Well, just about anything you want... if you have enough.

Abby: Money comes in bills like these and coins like these. These bills look a lot alike, but if you take a closer look, you can see that some bills are worth more than others. This bill is worth 1 dollar, and this one is worth 20 dollars. The same goes for coins. These small copper coins with the smooth edge are called pennies. A penny is worth 1 cent. There are also several silver-colored coins. This one is a nickel. It's worth 5 cents. The dime is worth 10 cents and the quarter is worth 25 cents.

Abby: You can earn money by doing a job. We call that a service. Or by selling something that you own or have made. We call that a good. Or, you might even get some money for a gift. People exchange money for services and goods every single day.

Deciding what to do with your money can be an even more difficult task than earning it. There might be all kinds of toys and treats that you'd like to buy... But it's important to always use your money on the things that you need first. Like healthy food, water, and shelter.

And remember, you don't have to spend your money right away. You can always save it or donate it.
